What treatments work? (7)
What has worked in the past, medication alone. This lasted about two weeks.
Medication and therapy. This has made things significantly better. At the moment, April's close to normal. Close is the key word. It has worked well enough that April has stopped taking two of her medications for it.
I will say that right now, these medications are ungodly expensive. Hopefully, by the time you read this, the patents will have expired and they'll be generics available. These are some that she has taken in the past
What doesn't work?
Ignoring it.
Excessive amounts of attention. If you're spending so much time with the person who has BPD that it interferes with your job or your family, it has gone too far. Often even that is not enough.
Throwing money at it. My credit rating is proof of that.
Constantly giving in. Stand your ground when you think you're right.
Talking about it when the BPD patient doesn't want to talk.
